Hilton Palacio del Rio

San Antonio, TX

Pictured is the model room developed in 2009 at the Palacio del Rio on the San Antonio Riverwalk for the Zachry Group.   The interior design was inspired by the regional latino infusion that San Antonio offers.  "Hip Hacienda" became the design mantra to follow.

Emphasis for the interior was placed on a bold colored stripe carpet and a dynamic bed blanket with all other room elements remaining simple and quiet.  These two components develop the contemporary Mexican signature for the guestroom. The custom designed case goods are detailed with a balance between rustic and modern clean lines.  The carved headboard is the one piece that plays between being a piece of art and a piece of furniture.  All of these components are encapsulated within white stucco textured wall surfaces, faux strip wood flooring, turquoise glass wall mosaics, and rich earthy colors reflecting the desired regional  atmosphere.

The bathroom design is completely new incorporating both shower only rooms and tub only rooms.  The uniquely designed sliding entry doors serves a duel purpose of providing privacy at the bathroom or covering the closet.  Due to the small size of the bath areas, vanity designs were developed with curved granite tops, vessel sinks with side mounted faucet sets and towel cubbies below.  A large span of mirror flanked by brightly lighted wall sconces help open up a once confining space.
